Who Knew the Crew Just Turned Two?

Today is the girls' 2nd birthday!  It's hard to believe that two whole years have gone by but looking back, even on this blog, it's amazing how much they've changed.  Gone are the days of swaddling, sleeping all day, and waking up every 3 hours.  Now it's all about, "SHOES!" and "MOON!" and "STARS!" and "BE NICE!" and "SHARE!"  All day long it's, "Sadie, NOT NICE!" and "MOMMY, HELP ME!"  Every day they learn new words and speak in a mixture of English and Chinese.  They sing songs like 'Twinkle Little Star' and they know their ABC's...they even know shapes--circle, triangle, square, rectangle, oval, star, and diamond.  They count to 10 and even higher in both English and Mandarin.  They've even started potty training, they're favorite part being washing hands afterwards.....you can imagine the soaked floor, dripping sink, and wet mirror each time.  But it's all worth it.

Saturday was their party and the girls had lots of fun seeing all of their friends.....and eating cake.

Serena:  "What does it say?  I can't read upside down!"
Scarlett: "Who cares, it's CAKE!"
Sadie: "Well if someone would get a knife over here we could cut the thing...."

Serena: "Oh boy Oh boy Oh boy!!!  We're going to eat CAKE!!"

Scarlett: "I wonder if it's chocolate or vanilla inside...."

Sadie: "I'll bet it's both!!!"

Serena:  "TWO!  TWO?  Why is there a big backwards TWO on there?"

Scarlett: "Mmmmmm.....who cares.....caaaaaaaaakkkkkkkke......"
Sadie: "No one's ever going to bring the knife.  We're going to sit here and starve while the big people just stand around and talk."

Serena:  "YEA!  Here come the forks and plates!'
Scarlett:  "WOW!  I think they're going to light the candle!"
Sadie:  "We didn't need to wait for a knife, I could have just karate chopped it!"

 Serena:  "I'm going in!!!"

Serena:  "It tastes like vanilla....."


Scareltt:  "Yeah..no chocolate yet...but this frosting is THICK."

Sadie:  "No fork, huh?  They must think we're puppies or something."

Sadie: "Well the white stuff tastes allright...."

Sadie: "Smooth....creamy...."

Sadie: "Ok, this cake is good.  We can keep it."

Serena: "I still haven't found any chocolate yet.  ZERO."

Scarlett: "Yeah, it's messy...but it's good."

Scarlett: "...and STICKY....and MESSY....I wonder what it's doing to my nails...."

Scarlett: "Aw, who cares.....it's my birthday!!"


Sadie: "What??  How else do you expect me to eat when there's no utensils?"

Scarlett:"Aw, criminy....IT'S ON MY ELBOW!  I can't get that off without smearing it everywhere."

Serena:  "Yeah....you wouldn't want that....Singing in the BATHTUB!!!!!!  la-la-la-la-la...."

Serena: "Watching all my TROUBLES go swishing down the drain....."

Serena: "Um....this stuff does rinse off, doesn't it?"

Scarlett: "Less talking....more EATING!  mmff...snarf...gobble..."

Serena:"Ok, I think I'm done.....Waiter?  Can you bring us some napkins please?"

Scarlett:"Oh my goodness....I didn't eat like a lady at all!  "

Sadie:  "Aw, who cares?  It's our birthday....Thanks, Mommy!!  The cake is really good!"
